Biography of Rev. John H. Grice Jr.
Rev. John H. Grice Jr. was born on July 14, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1950 the Grice family moved to Washington DC and Rev. Grice became a member of St. Judah Spiritual Baptist church. His early education was in the Washington, DC public school System and he is the eldest of eight siblings.
Rev. Grice joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) on November 4, 1964. During his service to our country he served two tours in Vietnam. After returning from his first tour overseas he married Virginia Trice in January 1969.
In August 1980, the USMC transferred Rev. Grice to the US Tank-Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan and he was later joined by his family in October 1980. Rev. Grice served 30 Years in the USMC, obtaining the highest enlisted rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant (E9) and retired on November 4, 1994. Continuing his secular education he received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Detroit College of Business, Dearborn, Michigan and later Rev Grice received a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix, Novi, Michigan.
He and his family became members of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Mt. Clemens, Michigan in October 1980. He became a Trustee and served faithfully from 1996 –1997. November 1998, he was crowned a Deacon of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. October 2001, Rev. Grice was called into the ministry and began to pursue his religious education and training. Rev. Grice became a member of the Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship of Detroit and Vicinity. As a member of the Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship he serves as the Fellowship Webmaster, Videographer and Recording Secretary.
Rev. Grice values education so he continued his Christian education through the Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, Georgia and received a Doctor of Pastoral Counseling in September 2004 and a Doctor of Pastoral Theology July 2005. Also in March 2005 Rev. Grice became an Ordain Minister and in June 2007 he received a Doctor of Divinity from the Union Baptist Seminary Inc. Birmingham, Alabama.
Rev. Grice is steadfast in his belief in the Gospel and uplifting God’s Kingdom.
